Scott Merritt set out on a career in music at the age of five, undertaking ukulele lessons from a parish priest.
Soon after, he signed a series of mostly ill fated recording contracts - Duke Street Records (1985), IRS Records (1988), Universal Records (1998). Along the way, he has worked with a succession of conspicuously talented producers and musicians and toured barely at all. He released a total of five records - writing, singing, playing a Stratocaster and posing for pictures.
He soon took up soldering and built a recording studio one afternoon. I think he was eight or nine.
Now he mostly works with other songwriter-types there and on Tuesdays he plays a ukulele and watches the fish go round and round in the pond.
